Birds of Prey

Postby Rob Candito » Fri Jan 09, 2009 1:50 am

These are some images that I took at the Howell Nature Center Photog. Day. Skip Moody showed a slide presentation, and we had great FOOD. And after lunch, instead of a nap, we retired to the snow out side to take images of birds that only really like to be out at night. But it was still interesting to be close to the birds. And I got to use my Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS, and it ROCKS! I just wish I did, but I get better everyday, as I make a point to try something new with the camera every couple of days.

Thanks, Rob

I fixed them, but one image seemed to be broken. When you post a link to an image like this, you want to highlight the URL path and click the "Img" button, not the "URL" button.

Cool shots!

Thanks Jim, I appreciate that fix. I just opened the post, and saw the birds, and thought I was loosing it. But I think I did accidentally hit the URL button. I will try some more later. I shot all of the birds of prey with the Canon 70-200, the same one you just invested in, I believe.

Thanks again! Rob C.

Great shots Rob!
The bokeh on that lens is great.

Suggestion on the first one: try to change your angle upwards a little to get the background more uniformed and pale (to increase the contrast to the bird).

I do love that second bird, though. What beautiful eyes!

(Also hope you don't mind me giving a little constructive criticism... )

Nate thanks for the comments. I agree with your comment on first bird. I'm loosing bits of my rookie ways, day by day, and I would appreciate the CC on any image that I post. This is the way I feel I will become better. I have been off of work over the hollidays, and been able to spend alot of time learning the in and outs of the Livco. site, and Dgrin. And as you can see, I have learned how to post images a couple of different ways. I'm excited about posting more images, and learning more. I will be going back to work on Monday, but I will get time to post a few here and there. My daughter Sarah and I went down to the Capitol today. We spent about three hours just walking our seperate ways, having fun collecting shots that we wanted. Now I just have to get her posting her images, she has a natural, artistic eye; where I have to work for each shot, and its still to much of a craps shoot, if you know what I mean.

Thanks, Rob C.
